Netcord Sponsors USTA State Champions in Bid for Nationals

Netcord is honored to have sponsored the team again in 2008 and wishes many congratulations to the guys in their success. Below is an update provided by Captain Rick Huff:

2008 - Netcord Supports Men's 3.5 Team from Bunten Road Park in Bid for Nationals

"For the second year in a row Netcord has sponsored Bunten Road Park in their attempt to win a National Championship . This years team led by first year captain Rick Huff recently competed in the Tucson , Az championship . The team won it's first and second round matches against very good teams representing the Missouri Valley and Texas USTA Sections . Their third round opponent was the team from Puerto Rico to whom they lost in very close contest . The team Puerto Rico continued on and eventually was the tournament champion .

The team finished the 2007-08 seasons with an overall record of 24-1 . All but 3 players have been promoted to 4.0 and a new team was formed at that level . They field both a 4.0 and 3.5 playing out of BRP during the winter season .

Being a captain is not a easy task but as I've said many times being a captain without Netcord would be impossible . I for one would never attempt it .

Thanks for you support of BRP."

BELOW IS INFORMATION ON NETCORD'S PAST SPONSORSHIP OF THE 2007 BID FOR NATIONALS

UPDATE 10/18/07: Netcord Sponsored Bunten Road Park Men's 3.5 team takes third in the National Championships in Las Vegas, NV.

Netcord is honored to have sponsored the team and wishes many congratulations to the guys in their success. Below is an update provided by Captain Mike Hammond:

"Our 3.5 Bunten Road Park club is back from the USTA National Championships at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, NV with the following to report. We won our group against contingents from three other sections, all with identical 4-1 scores. The competition was fierce, but we ultimately prevailed in the hunt for the flight championship by winning four third set tie-breakers, while dropping only one. Our team did all this with only twelve eligible athletes as Southern Tennis Association (STA) had previously disqualified four of our top eight players following the district and sectional tournaments.

The semi-finals were scheduled the next morning at 7:30 PST and we faced a powerful and unbeaten Southern California squad. Their singles players were phenomenal, as well as unbeatable, and they quickly took both points in straight sets. We then won the first two doubles lines, also in straight sets, but eventually dropped the threes to lose the match, 3-2, ending two sets shy of winning it all. We immediately played the other flight winner, a 3-2 loser in the opposing semi-final, and again won 4-1 to officially finish in third place. Southern Cal won the final match of the day, 4-1, to win the championship.

We actually finished with the tourney's best record, slightly better overall than Southern Cal, 18-7 to 17-8, and had we been allowed to utilize our strongest competitors, would likely have won that last doubles line and taken the top trophy. There was virtually no way we could have won a singles match with the hitters their section allowed to play in this championship, while our section found fault with the records of lesser participants. We still had a great time overall, enjoying some camaraderie with our teammates and opponents, trading mementos of our home states with them, and bringing home some good memories and photographs. Many thanks to you and Netcord as well as our other sponsors for your support on our quest. I am going to send a photograph or two for your use on the website. Please call or email if I can be of any help to you in the future."

Update 8/1/07: Team wins Sectional Title, headed for Nationals in Vegas
Mike Hammond and his guys won a hard fought Sectionals in Mobile going 18-2 to take the title.
Netcord congratulates the team on its success this far and wishes the team luck in its bid for the National Championship.

Netcord will be sponsoring the team on these trips and help cover travel expenses.
Good luck guys and bring home that National Championship!

The Bunten Road Park Men's 3.5 team has just won the 2007 State Championship and will be going to Mobile in July for the Sectional Title. The team was 22-3 in group competition last weekend in route to winning state, dropping only 8 sets in the process. Captain Mike Hammond had this to say, "Our teams began using Netcord in the spring of 2002 in the PATA USTA league, and won a state bid with that squad also. I have captained, co-captained or played on 19 teams that have utilized the Netcord service and will always do so if I am part of the decision making process. It makes running a competitive team as simple as it could ever be."
