TOUR PACKAGE ITINERARY

The following itinerary is planned, but flexible according to the weather, which will hopefully not be a factor, and choice of individuals. Clients of The Grass Court Experience, LLC should arrive by Friday 23rd June, 2006 if attending the Hurlingham Garden party, but no later than Saturday 24th June, 2006.

Price of package ($1500) includes: Honorary membership at Surbiton Racquet & Fitness Club for duration of trip; Wimbledon tickets (No. 1 Court – 2nd biggest stadium court. NOT ALL NO. 1 COURT SEATS ARE TOGETHER. Also allows you to see all the outside courts); Hurlingham Garden Party tickets; planned meals (BBQ, fish n’ chips/curry night etc.) at Surbiton Racquet & Fitness Club (SR&FC). Travel to and from Surbiton to Wimbledon & Hurlingham. Clients should book their own flights (direct flights are into London-Gatwick (LGW) only; some 1-stop flights go into London-Heathrow (LHR); both airports are convenient to get to Surbiton, and rooms at the Hotel Antoinette (from ₤75/$140 per night per room) should be booked through my travel agent, Martyn Fisher (martyn@greenstartravel.co.uk), Telephone – 011-44-1372 812345. Information on transport to/from airport and SR&FC will be provided by Martyn.

Schedule of events:

Saturday 24th June – suggested walk around Kingston or Putney Thames River front area in morning, with Hurlingham Garden Party in Putney from about lunchtime onwards: (Wimbledon players practicing at their courts; food, live jazz . . . very traditional English garden party at a historical and beautiful club - attire information will be provided in advance). Evening: dinner with group at restaurant in Putney (optional – not included in price).

Sunday 25th June – morning open (shopping/walk in Richmond Park). * Afternoon: Tennis at Surbiton Tennis Club with Sunday evening dinner.

Monday 26th June – morning open (visit Hampton Court Palace/Kew Gardens). * Late afternoon - Tennis, and social tennis evening with club members with BBQ dinner to follow.

Tuesday 27th June – Wimbledon (we will meet at Surbiton Train Station @ 9:30am. (check weather report in morning – you may wish to bring a raincoat – hopefully won’t need it! Camera.) Can walk 10 minutes or take bus from hotel to Surbiton Station.

Wednesday 28th June – same plan as Tuesday.

Thursday 29th June – morning open - * Tennis at club in afternoon. Evening open. This would also be a good day to do some sightseeing in London if you wanted to do that instead of play.

Friday 30th June - * Tennis at club in morning. Afternoon open. Evening – “Goodbye” dinner with group in Kingston (short walk from hotel – not included in trip cost).

Saturday 1st July * (OPTIONAL DAY – no extra charge).Tennis at club is available, with option of Social Tennis at club with members 2-4pm.

WEATHER:* All grass court tennis at SR&FC is dependent upon the weather and the club management’s decision as to whether or not to open the grass courts for play, which on a dry day, are open from 10am to about 9pm. For example, if there is rain in the morning, then we will move the tennis to the afternoon, or vice versa. Hard courts will be available if the grass courts are out of play.

If there is a complete day of rain at Wimbledon (no tennis whatsoever is played) which is extremely rare, then The Grass Court Experience, LLC will pay for entrance into the Wimbledon museum.

DEPOSIT:

A 33% ($500) non-refundable deposit payable by check to The Grass Court Experience, LLC, should be made at the time of booking to guarantee your reservation. The remaining balance ($1000) is due no later than Wednesday 10th May.

OPTIONS: (EXTRA WIMBLEDON DAYS?)

All clients of the The Grass Court Experience, LLC have the option of queuing (standing in the public line) for ground pass tickets into Wimbledon on any day instead of participating in the planned tennis at Surbiton Tennis Club. Please note that The Grass Court Experience, LLC has no influence on your chances of getting in to the grounds should you decide to try this. If you want to queue for tickets, the earlier you get there, the better your chances of getting in, but you can expect to queue for a few hours. A ground pass allows you to watch matches on all the “outside” courts and on some of the show courts with free seating, where there is excellent tennis to be seen up close, but it can get crowded. For more information, please visit: http://www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/about/tickets/queue.html

SURBITON RACQUET & FITNESS CLUB

SR&FC is the 2nd oldest tennis club in England, with a friendly, open neighborhood atmosphere with players of all ages and levels. There are 11 tournament-level grass courts and 8 hard courts, a clubhouse with bar, changing/shower facilities, etc. Predominantly white clothing only is permitted on the grass (just like at Wimbledon!), although SR&FC is probably one of the least formal “traditional” tennis clubs in the London area. Please see www.surbiton.org for more information.

ABOUT THE GRASS COURT EXPERIENCE LLC

The company has only recently been established by me, Jonathan Lockeretz, the sole owner/operator of the business. I am an ex-pat from Surbiton, Surrey, England, who has been living in Georgia since coming here on a tennis scholarship in 1987. I am a USPTA Professional 1 certified tennis coach who teaches full-time, independently, here in the Atlanta area. I am very excited to be able to take clients over to experience The Championships, and to visit and play grass court tennis at my home town club. I will also be more than happy to help you with your tennis game and give you some tips on playing on grass, although you will see the game of grass court tennis played at its highest level at Wimbledon, of course. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions. I hope to make your trip with The Grass Court Experience LLC a memorable one!
