"And the Couches Burned"
It wasn't supposed to turn out this way, was it Dawg fans? (Hold on a second please, the smoke from my couch is getting in my eyes.) The mighty SEC Champions, the University of Georgia Bulldogs, were supposed to walk all over the Big East Champions, my beloved West Virginia Mountaineers. (Whew, maybe I shouldn't have used gasoline as an accelerator.)
According to Greg Blue, the All-American safety for Georgia, they (being the Dawgs) were going to introduce us (being the Mountaineers) as to how football is played in the Southeastern Conference. (Hold on another second please, the tree branches are starting to catch.)
West Virginia supposedly would not be able to match the speed of the Georgia defense. Last time I looked Mr. Blue, Steve Slaton was blowing by you (again) for his second 52 yard touchdown run on his way to a Sugar Bowl record 204 yards rushing. (Does anyone have any marshmallows?)
According to Mr. Blue, I assume he's an expert in these matters, Georgia's defenses' eyes were lighting up at the mention of West Virginia’s freshman quarterback Pat White. (Hold on again, the Fire Department is here.)
Let's check the stats of White for the game. Eleven out of thirteen passing for 120 yards and a touchdown. True, not the greatest numbers ever, but when your offense is running all over that vaunted SEC defense for close to 400 yards rushing you don't need big numbers from your quarterback. (Boy, they sure took the fun out of that.)
So Jeff Schultz can take all the cheap shots at West Virginia that he wants, referring to his comment that the 15,000 tickets sold to Mountaineer fans would deplete the state of it's citizens, the final fact remains. We kicked Georgia's *ss.
As always, good luck in your matches.
