>> Congratulations to the Bryan Boys and USA Davis Cup
The Bryan Boys, Roddick and Blake had an exciting win for the USA in Winston Salem, NC in the beginning of April. After two strong singles victories on day one, the Boys clinched the tie on the second day of play in a thrilling match. The USA now moves on to the semi-finals versus Sweden in Sept. Congrats to the Fed Cup ladies as well who won 5-0 versus Belgium to move into the semi-finals versus Russia in July.

For those of you listing yourself as players looking for teams, or for those teams that are listing themselves as looking for players, we have a word of advice: don't give up if it is getting close to the beginning of a season and you haven't found your extra players or a team to join. What we have seen time after time is that many teams and players wait until the last moment to start looking when they realize that the team needs some players or they don't have a team at all. This means that our lists many times see more activity just before or during the first couple weeks of a season. Both USTA and ALTA allow addition of players even after a season starts (up to a certain point) so don't give up and keep checking the lists for possibilities. We hope you find the team or players that you need.

| Hopefully everyone is enjoying a fun spring season of doubles play. I know there are many of you out there who would rather be playing singles but how many of you know that when tennis was invented in 1874, it was intended to be for doubles only? The first tennis courts had no doubles alleys, instead being shaped like an hourglass with a net that was five feet high on each end and sagging to three feet in the middle. Players served underhanded since the serve was merely a means of putting the ball into play. Regardless, in the 133 years since the game of doubles has evolved into the fast paced spectacle that we all love to watch. So why do we never get to see any doubles on TV? Unless you have the tennis channel (I don’t) the chances of seeing doubles play are pretty slim. Thank goodness they show the Davis Cup doubles on Versus or I would be totally out of luck. So what can be done? First, the powers to be in the ATP need to stop experimenting with the game of doubles. Leave it alone. Let the “doubles specialists” be just that. Special. Let them play a third set instead of a super tiebreak. Put doubles on the show courts instead of banishing them to the far corners of the grounds. Let the people see reflex volleys, deft lobs, touch shots, angles, all the things that makes doubles the great show that it is. Show one major doubles final on TV. Is that too much to ask? |

| Recipe of the Month |
Authentic Chocolate Mousse Parfait
Ingredients:
3 cups heavy whipping cream
2 cups of Ghiradelli bittersweet chocolate chips (can use other chocolate)
2 tb. confec. sugar
2 tb. rum (optional)
2 ts. shaved chocolate (Baker's sell chocolate already shaved in jar - great shortcut)
1. On low heat, dissolve 2 cups of chocolate in 2 cups of heavy cream. Whisk until smooth, do not boil.
2. Let chocolate mixture chill in a silver mixing bowl at least 5-6 hours or overnight.
3. After chilled, whip the mixture like whipped cream until thick. Add 2 ts. of rum. Chocolate should be thick.
4. Whip 1 cup of heavy cream in electric mixer until thick. Add 2 tb. confec. sugar and 2 ts. of confect. sugar.
5. In glass bowl, spoon layer of chocolate, then layer of whipped cream. Repeat.
6. Serve with shaved chocolate on top as garnish (optional).
7. Refrigerate before serving.
