| Tennis players around the world can rejoice: The Man is back on the court. As most of the tennis world knows, John McEnroe returned to the ATP tour by winning the San Jose doubles title with Jonas Bjorkman. Mac was a little gray (OK, a lot gray) with the hair but he was still vintage McEnroe. The same slicing lefty serve and the same deft returns. His serve may not have the pace of years gone by but how many times have we been told that you don't need a big serve in doubles? As long as you have the hands of McEnroe to back it up and Bjorkman to cut off volleys at net, you're good to go. Now if they could only have played a full third set instead of this super tiebreak nonsense. We shouldn't expect McEnroe to make a full time return to the doubles tour but hopefully he can play the Majors and some Super-Nines. Having Mac on court can only help in the effort to keep doubles experts in the game instead of being banished from the tour which seems to be the ATP's intent. |

| Recipe of the Month |
Beef and Bean Stew
1 pound boneless beef (round or rump)
1/4 cup canola oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 medium onions, quartered
1 19-ounce can beans in sauce (kidney or northern)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 10-oz. beef broth
1 teaspoon thyme
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon pepper
dash of Tabasco
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water
Cut beef into 1-inch (2.5 cm) pieces. Heat oil in large saucepan or dutch oven; add meat and garlic and sauté until meat is browned. Add onions, beans, sugar, beef broth, thyme, Worcestershire sauce and pepper. Simmer covered 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Mix cornstarch with water and stir into stew; cook over high heat until mixture comes to boil and sauce is thickened and clear. Serve over hot mashed potatoes or in a bowl with crusty bread.
