You know the routine, we are on the court from 9:30 am - 12:15 pm with some of the best instructors Atlanta has featuring the drills that win City Championships. | It seems to be the general consensus among players and fans alike that the new rule allowing players to challenge line calls with the "hot spot" technology is a step in the right direction. Roger Federer doesn't seem to be a big supporter of it but then he hasn't been very successful in his challenges. Same for Maria Sharapova. Some players are taking full advantage of the new rule. Andy Roddick actually looked at his box to see if one of his shots that had been ruled out was, in reality, good. OK, this is supposed to be against the rules, it sort of violates the "no coaching" rule in tennis. You are supposed to challenge immediately and without help from anyone else. Which gives rise to the question as to just why coaching is not allowed in tennis. Davis Cup, the most hallowed of tennis competition, allows coaching during ties so why not during Slams and other events? Coaching takes place during matches whether anyone admits to it or not. Do you really think they every time a player looks towards his box he is just seeking encouragement? Not really. I've studied match tapes and I'm certain that every time Jimmy Connors (Roddick's coach) scratches his nose on the left Roddick will serve to the backhand. When he scratches his nose on the right Roddick serves to the forehand. I'm not making this stuff up people, you can watch his match against Mardy Fish and decide for yourselves. The point I'm trying to make is that coaching should be allowed in tennis. The player can have all the advice in the world, he or she is still the one out on the court hitting the ball. |

| Recipe of the Month |
Vegetarian Chili
Bring on the chili............vegetarian, that is:
2 chopped onions
1 cup chopped celery
4 finely chopped garlic cloves (add later so it doesn't burn)
1 cup diced, peeled carrots
1 cup diced zucchini
3 tb. olive oil
2 tb. worsh. sauce
1 ts. sugar
1 tb. black pepper
1/4 cup of chili powder
2 ts. of cumin
2 ts. salt (to taste)
2 ts. cayenne pepper.
2 cans black beans, 2 cans northern beans, 2 cans field peas (rinsed and strained)
Heat a soup pot. Saute 2 chopped onions and 1 cup of chopped celery, 1 cup diced zucchini, 1 cup diced, peeled carrots in 3 tb. of olive oil on high heat for @4 minutes. Lower heat to medium-low, add 3 large can of crushed tomatoes, along with 4 finely chopped garlic cloves, 2 tb. worsh. sauce, 1 ts. of sugar, 1 tb. black pepper, 1/4 cup of chili powder, 2 ts. of cumin, 2 ts. salt (to taste), 2 ts. cayenne pepper. Simmer for @30 minutes and stir often so bottom of pan doesn't burn.
At the end, add 2 cans black beans, 2 cans northern beans, 2 cans field peas.
Pour into your crockpot and bring to your match. Don't forget your emergency extension cord! Serve in crock pot with your choice of: crackers, corn muffins, chopped raw onions, shredded cheddar cheese, sliced jalapenos or by itself.
**Substitutions are easy with this recipe. Mix of your veggies or add some (corn, cream of corn, peas, diced potatoes, broccoli, pinto beans, chili beans, etc....) |
