| Statement of fact #1: Going into this past week's semifinal matchup with Andy Roddick at the Queen's Club tournament Rafael Nadal had exactly no grass court titles to his name. Statement of fact #2: At the same point of time in history Roger Federer had nine grass court titles (including 5 straight Wimbledons) to his name and was in the process of adding a tenth (Halle) to his resume. Yet, at the conclusion of Nadal's victory over Roddick the announcer (forgive me, I don't recall his name) boldly proclaimed that he was changing his pick as to who will win Wimbledon and that Nadal was "now the clear favorite to win Wimbledon". Wow, Roger Who? It must have made Roddick feel better that, despite a straight set loss, a victory over him on grass is so monumental that it would relegate a five time defending Wimbledon Champion to also-ran status. With this misguided logic I guess we could say that next year if, let's just say Djokovic, a player was to win the German or Italian Open final that they would be the odds on favorite to win the French. Forget Nadal and his perfect record and four straight titles. Not going to happen. By all standards Federer is not having one of his better years, just two titles so far. But this Wimbledon and five straight titles has to count for something. |

Recipe of the Month

 Summer Chopped Salad
4 Romaine Hearts, in bite size pieces
6 Plum Tomatoes, diced and seeded
1 Avocado, Chopped
3 chopped boiled eggs
1/2 red onion, chopped
1/4 cup chopped blue or gorgonzala cheese
1/4 cup chopped ham (any type will due)
Directions: Gently toss the above ingredients in a bowl. You may substitute any of the ingredients, such as using field greens or iceberg instead of romaine; use grape tomatoes; skip the cheese or add more veggies, etc.... In another bowl, mix 1/2 juice from a lemon, 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, 2 ts. salt, 1/4 ts. sugar, 1 tb. balsamic vinegar and 1 tb. italian seasoning. Drizzle over the salad right before serving. Keep salad on Ice.
